Hector

In Woodhill Primary we have many school blogs. One of them is called "Hector's Blog".
Hector came from École Élémentaire, Paris, on the 13 décembre 2005. His French name is Pouf Ector, Popi Loumiroux, but we call him Hector. His date of birth is 14 juillet (July) 1996. Hector is 18cm tall and his eyes are noir (black). Hector has visited some pupils' homes. He has been to lots of different places in Glasgow with the pupils.

Last week I learned and recorded a little poem all about Hector. It didn't really take me too long to learn. Hope you like listening to it. Here is the poem I recorded.

Hector
Sur mon lit j'ai trouvé
Un paquet tout mou.
Sur mon lit j'ai trouvé
Un paquet tout doux.
Dans le paquet j'ai trouvé
Un petit chiot,
Tout mou, tout doux, tout roux, tout frisotté.
Dans le paquet j'ai trouvé
Un petit chiot à câliner,
Un petit chiot à aimer.
Dans le paquet j'ai trouvé Hector,
Mon petit chiot à moi.

Our Passeport Santé Slide Show!

On Thursday 16 April colleagues from our partner schools in France and England, along with members of Learning and Teaching Scotland and the Scottish Executive, met to discuss the way forward with our project "Passeport Santé et Citoyenneté."
We enjoyed seeing them all again, catching up on news from abroad and exchanging ideas.
We look forward to meeting them again hopefully in the not too distant future.

Demonstration Day by Christopher

Hello

Today we have headteachers from all over the country visiting us. I am demonstrating the Woodhill Primary French blog. There are 7 headteachers visiting. One headteacher who spoke to me is from a school in Erskine. She was very kind and asked lots of questions ...

LT Scotland Visits Woodhill Primary

Woodhill Primary Wins Technology Challenge
We are delighted not only to have won the Scottish award for the prestigious UK- wide technology competition" Make IT Happen", but also won first prize for the United Kingdom.
The competion recognises primary school technology projects led by nine - eleven year olds which are helping the school or local community.
We at Woodhill wanted to integrate technology across the curriculum and use it to establish links with other schools in Scotland and abroad.
We encouraged students to develop podcasts and blogs which could be used as learning materials.
Material was created to support French and English lessons as well as wider issues such as health and globalisation. Parents were given information about the blogs and encouraged to view the information online.
This was also shared with partner schools in Scotland , England, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic and China.
We were invited to London in October to receive our £3500 prize from the Speaker of the House of Commons at a special awards ceremony with MPs in Westminster.
Do click on our movie above to see what an exciting day we had in London.

My trip to London - UK technology competition

When I went to London I was really excited. We flew to London at 9:30 and arrived there at 10:15. From there we took a train and several underground trains to get into the centre of London. After lunch we set off to the Houses Of Parliament. Inside it was huge!
Our MP, Jo Swinson took us to a room where we would hear who had won the awards. We knew we had won the award for Scotland but soon we were to hear who had won the big UK award. I was really nervous. Finally they told us. WE HAD WON FIRST PLACE!!! Yippee!! I was over the moon.
Later on, our MP Joe Swinson took us out on to the Terrace, where you can only go if you have an MP with you. We felt like VIPs! After that we went for a look around London. We saw soldiers with huge bear-skin hats on and had our photo taken with them. Suddenly we saw the time and made a mad rush to the train station! We were late because our train was not an Express train and it stopped at every station. When we finally got to the airport we had to skip hundreds of people who were waiting to go through security. Thankfully we got on the plane before it left.
What an amazing day!
